In the 1980s, René Barbier awakened the Priorato from his slumber. With incredible efforts, René and Isabel Barbier and their children have managed to produce a small production (starting at 15,000 bottles) of a world class wine. Many titles have already been awarded to René: Founder of the Priorat, Father of the Priorat, Patriarch of the Priorat , Philosopher of the Priorat, etc. For René and Isabel always the nature and originality of the area in the foreground. For this they have been duly honored.
Manyetes is a south-facing vineyard, located 250 meters above sea level. The soil is 100% “Llicorella Slate”, a type of soil on which the vines must fight to survive. In the last ten years, the proportion of Cariñena in the Manyetes Cuvée has been increased. On this soil and with the strong sunshine, the Cariñena vine offers a surprising freshness and round tannins. Only about 7000 bottles are produced by this premium wine every year, which makes it a sought after rarity.
Wine region: Priorat
Classification: D.O.Q. Priorato
Variety: Cariñena, Garnacha
Manyetes 2008 from Clos Mofador is a blend of Cariñena 80% and Garnacha 20%. Juicy and dark purple red-colored.
