June 3. 2011
The discovery of champagne was the result of the untiring study of the foaming wine of the Benedictine monks Dom Perignon and Dom Thierry Ruinart at the beginning of the 17th century. With the foundation of the house Ruinart in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart, this maison is the oldest champagne house ever.
The face of the oldest champagne house, is actually a rather young one. Frédéric Panaïotis was merely 43 years old in 2007 when he was put in charge of winemaking at this house belonging to the prestigious LVMH collection.
Frédéric Paniotis and Piero are tasting and talking about Ruinart Champagne in this episode of The Wine Show.
Wine region: Champagne
Vintage: Non Vintage
Classification: A.O.C. Champagne
BLANC DE BLANCS
The Blanc de blancs from Ruinart shows a bunch of citric aromas, mainly lime with hints of cardamom and toasted bread. Strong mousse and fine perlage. On the palate very supple with a harmonious acidity. Shades of nectarine peel. Fresh and a quite long finish. Now through 2014.
